I'm Not Interested In Politics
Many people say 'Oh, I'm not interested in politics!', or they don’t want to be involved with politics, etc... This is a huge mistake. When it comes to politics (which means not just political parties and policies etc, but the system of how we organize our lives, our economy, our environment, our education... almost everything), well, there are only two options:
1. You are interested and involved in politics... and it has a huge influence on your life.
2. You are NOT interested and involved in politics... and it has a huge influence on your life anyway!
There is no third option.
So, to chose number 2 instead of number 1 is a very big mistake. Why chose to have NO say over something that is definitely, 100% for sure, going to have a BIG say over you? The problem with us not commenting on politics is that it goes right ahead and comments on US, nevertheless. Not just comments, but controls, and affects almost everything around us. So, we really should 'get tore in', as we say in Scotland, to influencing this thing called 'politics' that has such a huge influence over us. Otherwise, they win.
“The worst illiterate is the political illiterate, he doesn’t hear, doesn’t speak, nor participates in the political events. He doesn’t know the cost of life, the price of the bean, of the fish, of the flour, of the rent, of the shoes and of the medicine, all depends on political decisions. The political illiterate is so stupid that he is proud and swells his chest saying that he hates politics. The imbecile doesn’t know that, from his political ignorance is born the prostitute, the abandoned child, and the worst thieves of all, the bad politician, corrupted and flunky of the national and multinational companies.” - Bertolt Brecht
